In this week’s Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association poll, Syracuse remained at No. 10 for the fourth straight week. The Orange are still the highest-ranked Atlantic Coast Conference school.

SU’s last race came three weeks ago at the Lake Wheeler Invitational, where it finished fourth in the Pocock Cup standings out of 18 teams.

Being the second-highest ranked team at this event, behind No. 5 Tennessee, the Orange’s placement was a let-down. It only finished first in two races out of 15, with the varsity 8 and second varsity 8 capturing its only wins.

This weekend, Syracuse travels back to Lake Wheeler, North Carolina, for the ACC Championship. The varsity 8 and second varsity 8 have both been given No. 1 seeds for their events, with none of Syracuse’s five boats receiving a seed lower than No. 3.

Virginia has won the last 13 ACC titles, but this year, the streak could potentially end. The No. 16 Cavaliers have consistently been ranked under both SU and No. 15 Duke in the CRCA poll this season. If the Orange pull out a victory, it will be their first ACC Championship in program history.
