Kerry Defliese and Emily Hawryschuk were awarded ACC preseason honors after being awarded all-conference honors last season. The award is voted on by the head coaches in the ACC.

Hawryschuk led the team in goals last season (53) and points with 61. She earned first team All-Northeast Region and All-ACC honors for her performance last year. Against Loyola on April 5, Hawryschuk had eight points, a career-high for the junior. Of those eight points, six came from goals.

Defliese switched to defense at the start of last season. In her first season at the position, she tied for second in caused turnovers (15) and had 20 ground balls. Defliese started all 19 of SU’s games and was awarded with All-Northeastern Region first-team and All-ACC second team.

The two, along with the rest of SU, will face Connecticut on Feb. 8 in the Carrier Dome to open the season.
