Week in Pulp: Ravens cheerleader, denim skirts

Riding high from a three-day weekend, students were sending out positive vibes that made their way to the Pulp staff. Here is a rundown of all the cool things alumni, students and celebrities in Syracuse did this week, all in one place. Click on the headings to see the full story.
1. SU alumna lands spot as Ravens cheerleader
Natalie Glanell, a former SU women’s lacrosse player, traded her orange jersey for a purple uniform this summer when she joined the Baltimore Ravens Cheerleaders. This week, as she prepared for the NFL season opener, Glanell shared how anxious she was about making the team, her SU lacrosse career and more.
2. 2000s skirts make a comeback
Columnist Jackie Homan brought back the old-school denim mini this week in her column about the 2000s making a comeback. Although 90s style is still all over campus, you can’t deny that the chicest students have been seen sporting jean skirts. Homan said that what 90s kids rocked in middle school will be hitting shelves more often in the coming years, so prepare yourself accordingly.
3. Students connect peers to the farm
Brainfeeders, a new student organization, is bringing locally grown vegetables directly to SU students. They’ve partnered with a Community Supported Agriculture farm that provides the fresh produce that Brainfeeders in-turn delivers to students each week. Although it’s too late to sign up for this semester, still check out their table outside of Huntington Beard Crouse each week and enter to win a box of veggies for $1.
4. Nick Jonas visits the Hill
Nick Jonas, the well-known pop artist, stopped by Funk ‘n Waffles University Hill this past Monday before his performance at the New York State Fair. While big-name acts come to campus regularly, this stood out because Jonas chose to eat among the common folk. Chaos ensued when swarms of students attempted to cram into the small waffle shop in the hopes of getting a glimpse of the celebrity.
