The Syracuse track and field team finished competition at the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Championship Saturday.

The women’s team tied for 10th place with Virginia, scoring 32 points, while the men’s team took 12th place with 17 points.

SU had several runners advance to the finals, but none were able to take first in any event. Sophomore Shaina Harrison had the best finish out of all SU runners, coming in second place in the 60-meter dash with a personal-best time of 7.37 seconds.

Harrison improved on her time from the preliminary rounds by .12 seconds. The sophomore sprinter finished third overall in her original heat with a time of 7.49 seconds Friday.

Senior Donald Pollitt had the next-best finish for the Orange, taking third place in the 60-meter hurdles final. Pollitt clocked in at 7.82 seconds, while freshman Freddie Crittenden finished with a time of 7.88 seconds to take fifth.

The two were neck-and-neck in the preliminary rounds Friday, with Pollitt winning the heat with a 7.83-second mark, and Crittenden finishing just one-hundredth of a second behind him at 7.84 seconds.

Pollitt and Crittenden combined to earn 10 points for the men.

Freshman Sydney Leiher continued her progress this season setting a new personal best in the mile run with a time of 4:45.82 in the preliminary rounds. Leiher then bested that time in the finals, running a 4:45.76 to capture a fifth place finish.

Junior Martin Hehir took fourth place in the 5,000-meter run, finishing in 14:07.39 to earn the men’s team four points.

Redshirt senior Sarah Pagano and sophomore Margo Malone both scored for the women’s team in the 5,000-meter run. Pagano took fourth overall with a time of 16:14.81, while Malone finished seventh clocking in at 16:24.42.

Pagano and Malone were also able to earn points in the 3,000-meter run. Pagano finished with a time of 9:29.42 to take fifth, while Malone finished less than a second behind, 9:30.33, to take seventh.

Freshman Regine Hunter was able to score three points for her sixth place finish in the triple jump, leaping 12.48 meters.

Senior Jaquan Holland took eighth place, running a time of 6.91 seconds, in the 60-meter dash finals to earn a point.

Both the men’s and women’s distance medley relay teams were able to score. The women’s team came in fifth place with an 11:25.25 finish to earn four points, and the men’s team took eighth place with a 9:59.81 finish to earn one point.

Qualified SU runners will now look to finish strong at the IC4A/ECAC Championships next Saturday and Sunday.
